Frisch's Big Boy is rolling out the big trucks to make sure we all have pie on the table as 10,000 pies have been ordered this week alone.  That's so many that Frisch's actually had to stop taking special orders. Frisch’s pumpkin pie is made from a family recipe that dates back more than 50 years, and each pie is made from scratch in Frisch's kitchen in Walnut Hills. "We just do what your grandmother did. We take flour and shortening and we mix it together; add some water," said baker Joe Easton. That crust dough gets pressed into pans before it's ready for the filling with its secret recipe of spices. "We really don't even know ourselves what's in it. It's truly a secret recipe," Easton said. "We buy spices from different companies, and there's different mixes of each of the ones that they will send to us. We have the recipe. We're not sharing. It's ours," said Karen Maier, Frisch's former Vice President of marketing. Hand-selected pumpkin, evaporated milk, corn starch and 60 pounds of eggs all get thrown into the mix before being pumped into pie crusts, baked, packed and finally picked up to be enjoyed by families just like yours all around the Tri-State.
