Hemp-Nettle (Galeopsis tetrahit) is an annual wildflower belonging to the Mint (Lamiaceae) Family that can be found growing in clearings, fields, creek/streambanks, and damp open areas at low to middle elevations. Hemp-Nettle appears to have originated as a natural hybrid between two European species of Galeopsis and is found in Northwestern Asia, Europe, and North America. Hemp-Nettle is also known as Bristlestem Hemp-Nettle, Common Hemp-Nettle, and Hemp Dead-Nettle.
