Central to this toxic relating in personality disordered individuals is ONE thing common in all - Their need for toxic power and control over you because they feel powerless and out of control.

At the core of Borderlines, Narcissists, Avoidant, Anxious, Dependent and other personality disorders and more types of unstable mental health issues is Toxic relating.
Toxic relating also happens with and for people with Codependency to a certain degree. Any time anyone is too far out of balance or not taking personal responsibility, respecting others boundaries and having their own boundaries and having them respected some measure of toxic relational dynamics can be present to varying degrees.

It is important for all of us to be mindful that we cannot control anyone but ourselves. That we need to be mindful not to, in any way, externalize what each of us is responsible for doing for ourselves (self-care) internally.

Don't forget, gossip, judging others, are also toxic realities. Be careful also not to get caught up in the plethora of drama and chaos of everyday people in everyday life. Toxic relating is at its height and most harmful and stressful with many people with "personality disorders". It is also to a different degree, in many not so obvious or even as hurtful ways present much more in society today as civility continues to take an over-all beating.
