Canada launches suicide prevention helpline

CANADA LAUNCHES 988, THE SUICIDE PREVENTION HELPLINE...
Federal mental health minister Ya'ara Saks announced the 988 service, a free mental health and suicide prevention support in Canada. This follows a December 2020 motion by Conservative MP Todd Doherty to establish a national suicide prevention hotline, and followed the implementation by CRTC in August 2022.
