Iran has recently unveiled a new missile, claimed to be hypersonic and capable of evading air defense systems. This missile was presented at a ceremony at the Ashura Aerospace Science and Technology University in Tehran, attended by Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. While Iran has not released any videos showing the missile being fired and it is believed to be untested, Iran is only the fourth country in the world to use the technology in HGV missiles. This show of force comes as the U.S. has been moving military assets such as a nuclear submarine and carrier strike groups to the Middle East amidst the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Other groups supported by Iran such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen have been fighting with Israel in solidarity with Hamas.
