The U.S. military is currently undertaking a series of AI initiatives that are raising serious questions about the use of lethal autonomous weapons, especially those that have not been properly vetted. One such ambitious initiative, known as ‘Replicator’, involves the use of thousands of affordable and expendable AI-enabled autonomous vehicles. These are expected to be fielded by 2026 in an effort to match China’s advancements in this area. It is believed that the ‘Replicator’ will necessitate some tough decisions about what types of AI tech can be considered reliable enough to use in weaponized systems. The first Pentagon AI chief, Lieutenant General Jack Shanahan, has stated that the only types of weapons he trusts to operate autonomously at the moment are fully defensive ones. It is widely believed that America will have fully autonomous deadly weapons, including flying terminator weapons, ready within the next few years. @QuantumQuestNews001
