Israel still wants to show its 'military might': Political analyst

The Netanyahu government has not been able to achieve any of its military objectives but is still looking for a "zero-sum victory" against Hamas, political analyst Cherkaoui has said.

"This is the debate in Israel now. After two months, nothing has materialised except massive Palestinian deaths. But there is zero gain in terms of a victory for Israel," Cherkaoui, professor of Conflict Resolution and Diplomacy at George Mason University, told Al Jazeera.

He believes that Netanyahu and his government still want to be seen as a "military might" that will "send Hamas to hell".
