James Carr was in charge of the dead and wounded at Sand Creek. James Carr is shown twenty years after Sand Creek as he’s writing a letter about his friend and fellow soldier, Robert McFarland, who was killed at Sand Creek. Carr is also shown as the young soldier in 1864.
