Also known as the Pyramid of Khufu, named after the ancient Egyptian king who is said to have built it, it is a simple fact for archaeologists that the first wonder of the world was built around 4500 years ago. It took 20 to 25 years to complete, and it required a total of 500 000 tons of granite and a staggering amount of 5.75 million tons of limestone, it should be noted that while the latter was quarried in Giza, the former was taken from a quarry 500 miles south of Giza, it also took years to prepare the terrain where this marvel was built, for it was originally a hill that had to be leveled in order to be worked on.
