We're excited to present the first podcast in our "Best of Dr. Sher on The Egg Whisperer Show" series that will be running all week.

Today's topic: "Treating Endometriosis-Related Infertility." Join us as we delve into the fascinating world of endometriosis with our Associate Medical Director, Dr. Sher. Here are some eye-opening facts he's sharing:

1️⃣ Endometriosis affects about 10% of all women, presenting a spectrum of symptoms or none at all.
2️⃣ It's estimated that 25%-40% of female infertility is linked to endometriosis in some way.
3️⃣ Endometriosis is a lifelong condition, although it can be medically or surgically managed.
4️⃣ Removal of endometriomas from an ovary may enhance chances of getting pregnant.

Dr. Sher emphasizes, "It’s very important that doctors refer patients with early endometriosis who don’t have children or who want to have more children later on to people like us for Fertility Preservation (FP-egg banking) to extract their eggs and freeze them for future dispensation. If you do nothing about it in a timely manner, by the time the woman reaches 35y her egg quality might start to decline rapidly and the likelihood of DOR (Diminished ovarian reserve) increases.

While no one wants to waste time and money, there is also the matter of emotional stress. People often ignore how emotionally debilitating infertility can be. To put someone on a course which is not going to benefit their end point objective, in my opinion, is not good medicine. So, I agree with you, and I applaud that statement. All doctors who detect endometriosis in young women should at least talk to them about infertility or refer them to people like us where we can talk to them and explain these realities so that they can prepare themselves."

Tune in to gain valuable insights on Endometriosis and fertility.
And come back tomorrow for more of Dr. Sher’s wisdom, as we count down to what is the MOST downloaded episode ever of The Egg Whisperer Show.
