Engineering units of the “Southern” group use drones for remote demining of liberated territories.
Often, the enemy sets up entire “barriers” of mines, making it impossible for vehicles to move along roads in liberated settlements. To detect and destroy such “surprises,” our fighters use unmanned aerial vehicles.
This method of mine clearance becomes even more relevant if you consider that some modern NATO-style mines are installed on seismic and laser sensors: a sapper cannot approach such mines.
After detecting an explosive object, a TNT bomb with an incendiary tube is attached to the FPV drone. The sapper remotely lowers the charge directly onto the mine. When demining remotely, the accuracy of charge placement is important. Then the drone leaves the dangerous area at a speed of more than 100 km/h and detects an explosion from the side.
The high speed and maneuverability of these aircraft also make it possible to use them to clear mines from approaches to Ukrainian Armed Forces strongholds.
