This is the moment a huge elephant was craned out of a 40ft well during a two-day rescue mission after it toppled in when a herd raided a village.

Around a dozen tuskers went on the rampage in the middle of the night, flattening homes and terrifying locals.

The enraged elephants apparently charged out of the village when the locals gave chase - and one toppled into a well.

Locals said it trumpeted through the night until authorities arrived the next day to lift it from the hole using a huge crane and truck during a 41-hour rescue effort.
