Woman rescues two children from retention pond on Indianapolis’ west side

Two children nearly drowned Tuesday afternoon after they were found in a retention pond by two adults on Indy’s west side. Katarzyna Szurkiewicz said she was at a nearby playground when she heard a girl scream indicating two children were in the pond. Once close enough, IFD officials said Szurkiewicz jumped in, fully clothed and grabbed the children.
