Rob Blake A.K.A Blake Bastion, is an English singer, songwriter, musician and producer from Brighton. Combining intricate guitar playing, eclectic rhythms and lively melodies, with deep bass and rich vocals, Blake Bastion creates timeless sounding songs in a modern style. His heartfelt, soul searching lyrics seek to find purpose in our fast paced and ever changing world. Influences of Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell and Sting can be heard in his voice, and as often found with guitarists that grew up listening to their parent’s records, he played along with Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Eric Clapton from an early age.

Blake began working in recording studios at 17 years old after moving to London. As a session guitarist and studio hand he met and worked with many established artists, whilst writing his own songs and honing his production skills. Blake entered the music industry with the release of an electronic crossover album on Distinctive Records, titled ‘Know No Boundaries’, under the collective moniker ‘iLL AUDiO’. The LP featured collaborations with Roots Manuva, Skunk Anansie, The Dub Pistols, Alex Vargas, Bluey Robinson and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The first track, titled ‘Nibiru’, is currently the introduction to the Arcadia Spectacular Metamorphosis show, winners of the TPI ‘Live Production of the year 2016’ award.
Blake recently composed music for and performed on the Glastonbury Arcadia ‘Spider’ stage this year, with the Mechanical Orchestra, a new 21 piece band.

Having refined his solo material performing around the UK, and touring East Africa earlier in 2016, Blake embarks on his first self release with the ‘Hummingbird E.P’ and will also performed live at the Sonne über Festival, Berlin on 11th September 2016.
The brand new single “Hummingbird” was recorded and produced at Monumental Rocks Studio in Brighton and released on 24 October 2016 on Monumental Music.

Your new EP ‘Truce’ is terrific. "“Thanks! Two were written when busking; the first track song and title of the EP, ‘Truce’, I wrote sitting on a bench in Worthing over a year ago in January. People were walking around looking depressed so I wanted to play something to lift the mood. It got a really solid reaction so I remembered it and developed it over the past year working on different arrangements, and digging more into the theme of depression to get the lyrics came the idea of suicide. If you could play music to convince someone to not take their life, what would you play?

The second track, ‘My Island’, is a mad one. I work up one morning and had the melody and lyrics in my head. I had to scribble it down as fast as I could and hum the melody into my phone before I forgot it. That’s never happened before or since, and the whole song was there sketched out in less than 5 mins."
