Et je me demande: est-ce que quelque chose est fait là-bas sur sa planète? Soudain, l'agneau a mangé une rose? Parfois, je me dis: non, bien sûr que non! Le petit Prince couvre toujours la rose avec un bonnet de verre pour la nuit, et il est très attentif à l'agneau... Alors je suis heureux. Et toutes les étoiles rient doucement. Et parfois, je me dis: tu es parfois distrait... Alors tout peut arriver! Tout à coup, un soir, il a oublié le bonnet de verre ou le mouton la nuit, il est sorti secrètement à volonté... et puis les tambourins pleurent... tout cela est mystérieux et incompréhensible. Vous qui aimez aussi Le petit Prince, comme moi, ne vous en souciez pas du tout: le monde entier devient différent pour nous parce que quelque part dans un coin inconnu de l'Univers, un agneau que nous n'avons jamais vu, peut-être, a mangé une rose inconnue. Regardez le ciel. Et demandez-vous: cette rose est-elle vivante ou n'est-elle plus? Soudain, le mouton l'a mangé? Et vous verrez: les choses deviendront différentes... et jamais aucun adulte ne comprendra à quel point c'est important!»
