New String of Burglaries in Lee County
LEE COUNTY, Fla --- People on Hawks Preserve Drive have one word to describe the recent break-ins on their block; scary. This isn't the first time the neighborhood was targeted and the people living on the street and in the surrounding neighborhoods tell me that it;s become and all-too-familiar way of life on their street. One resident, Robert Staples, told Fox 4 that the burglaries happen approximately once a month, between the hours of midnight and two in the morning. During this recent string of burglaries, three cars were stolen. Five cars were broken into as well as well as a house. Four in Your Corner was able to obtain video of the thieves outside of one neighbor's car. The video shows the thief trying to see if the door is unlocked. This latest string of burglaries has forced many to make some changes to their lifestyle. Casey Painter told Fox 4 that she no longer let's her daughter go out after dark and Roberts Staples says that he and the other people on the street are watching their security video for anything suspicious and locking their cars. According to Casey Painter, everyone on the street is still determined to live their lives as normally as they can, even after what happened.
