Javier Milei, a far-right populist and economist, has won Argentina’s presidential election in a landslide victory. He defeated Sergio Massa, the economy minister of the ruling Peronist party, by getting 55.7% of the votes in the run-off. Milei campaigned on a platform of radical economic reforms, such as dollarizing the economy, closing the Central Bank, and slashing government spending. He also opposes abortion rights and climate change policies, and has been compared to former US President Donald Trump.
