This special switching move takes 2 locomotives when Alter Metal has freight (scrap metal) needing to go south on a passing train. The spur for the recycling yard only leads north onto the main, so it takes power on both ends to make it happen. Today it was ELS 502 (SD40) and ELS 501 (SD40-2) of the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad taking a long freight train south after switching in East Kingsford, and you won't believe the amount of SmartSiding from LP they have on this train!!
