Frankenstein by Mary Shelley #fullaudiobook

Welcoming you to my narration of Mary Shelley’s profound novel Frankenstein. This enduring tale was born from a vivid dream Shelley herself experienced 200 years ago - images of a student of science, consumed by dangerous obsession. As we join Victor Frankenstein within his candlelit laboratory, he feverishly assembles cadaverous parts into an imposing, inhuman figure. Then comes the fateful moment when it stirs with life.

Shelley exquisitely layers themes of alienation, ethics in science, the philosophical nature of humanity. The creature first seems an innocent being. But his maker shuns him, driving a wedge of hatred between them. Their tragic conflict leaves only death in its wake.

We question - where did Frankenstein go wrong? As science continues advancing exponentially even today, what warnings does Shelley's fable hold? While breathtakingly ahead of its time, the story retains the rich creepiness of traditional Gothic horror.

In her preface, Shelley references Milton and his epic Paradise Lost about the fall of Satan.

Reading it today, with the warnings about the growth of superhuman AI, Shelley's themes have not aged.

What responsibility does a creator owe his creature? And if the creator does not live up to his duties of care, should the creature wreak its revenge?

I humbly aim to transport you into this visionary novel transcending genre - one lauded as much for elegant prose as for thrills. Together we will explore why Frankenstein remains powerfully resonant, continuing to inspire thought and creative reinterpretations across all media over 200 years since its conception.

Listen closely, dear friend...”
