In 2019, Disney released a live-action adaptation of the 1992 animated film Aladdin with the same title. Aladdin was a huge hit in 2019, which comes as no surprise. Guy Ritchie directed the film, which was an instant smash upon its premiere. The film wasn’t a carbon copy of the original 1992 film, but it did follow the same basic narrative. Now, Disney has announced that Aladdin 2, the sequel to the film released in February 2020, will be released. Guy Ritchie will take over as director and will helm the film. Ritchie, who is presently working on his next film, Cash Truck, is in charge of this upcoming Disney sequel. After completing his work on Jason Statham’s film, the filmmaker is anticipated to begin work on this blockbuster. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich have also rejoined the production team.

Disney announced in October 2016 that Ritchie will helm a live-action adaptation of Aladdin. In July 2017, Smith became the first member of the cast to join, going on to play Genie, and later that month, Massoud and Scott were confirmed for the two major parts. Principal photography began in September at Longcross Studios in Surrey, England, and continued through January 2018, with additional filming in Jordan’s Wadi Rum Desert. In August 2018, more filming and pick-ups took done.

The Cast:
It has been announced that Mena Massoud will reprise his role as Aladdin in Aladdin 2. It would be impossible to have a sequel without Aladdin, and he is excited to get started. Will Smith and Naomi Scott will reprise their roles as Princess Jasmine and Jeanie, respectively. Because the authors have indicated that the film would not be a sequel to The Return Of Jafar, it’s probable that Marwan Kenzari, who played Jafar in the film, may not appear.

Release date:
The filming of Aladdin 2 will take longer than planned. Although it appears that the project is presently moving forward at a rapid pace. Disney hired John Gatins and Andrea Berloff to write the script for Aladdin 2 in February 2020. The film is scheduled to be released in May 2025, about six years after the previous film.

The Plot of Aladdin 2:
The animated Aladdin sequel “The Return of Jafar” will not be adapted for Aladdin 2. This will be a whole different story. According to reports, the filmmakers were considering adopting more concepts from One Thousand and One Nights, a compilation of Middle Eastern traditional tales. The book includes stories like “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” and “The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor,” in addition to Aladdin’s original tale, “Aladdin’s Magic Lamp.” Which of these tales will be featured in Aladdin 2 is unknown.
