Sky News host Peta Credlin says Australia’s energy grid is “on the brink of collapsing this summer” as Energy Minister Chris Bowen announced taxpayers will underwrite a five-fold increase in government-backed renewables.

“Our failing energy grid that’s on the brink of collapse this summer,” Ms Credlin said.

“Today Energy Minister Chris Bowen announced that you the taxpayer will underwrite a five-fold increase in the government’s so-called taxpayer-backed, renewable program across the country."

This announcement comes after Chris Bowen conceded it would be difficult to deliver on his government’s 82 per cent renewables target.

Ms Credlin sat down with gas and energy expert Saul Kavonic to discuss the government’s green energy and renewables push.
