*BEST TURKEY COOKING TIPS FOR THANKSGIVING!* 🦃 How To Make Your Turkey Tender and Flavorful!
TURKEY RECIPE🍗 :
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp Poultry Seasoning
1 Tbsp Paprika
1 1/2 tsp Dried Thyme
1 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Garlic
1/4 C. Olive Oil (to start, you may need more or less)
Directions:
1. Remove Neck and Giblets
2. Rinse Turkey and pat dry with paper towels, inside and out
3. Cut off excess fat
4. Using your hands, massage the the turkey on the inside to separate the skin from the meat, being careful not to rip it.
5. Mix all dry ingredients in a small bowl
6. Spread Olive Oil all over the inside and outside of the skin on the entire Turkey
7. If using minced garlic, put it only on the insides of the skin.
(- Avoid putting it on the outside, otherwise it could burn in the oven.
- If using garlic powder, mix it in the bowl with all the other dry ingredients.)
8. Cover the Turkey with the dry seasoning mix on inside and outside of skin
9. **Optional: tie legs with kitchen twine, if you have it.
10. Place Turkey on roasting pan.
11. Cover the Turkey with food safe plastic wrap and let sit overnight in the refrigerator for approximately 24hrs.
Next Day:
Preheat oven to 275°
12. Remove and tightly rewrap Turkey with food safe plastic. (Rewrapping is optional. Although any moisture that built up on the plastic wrap from overnight may cause it not to stick as well.)
13. Cover the Turkey and food safe plastic wrap with tin foil, tightly tucking it under and around the edges of the roasting pan. (The foil safely protects the turkey, while the plastic wrap traps in the moisture from the oven, which helps give the turkey a nice, moist, tender taste.)
14. Bake, covered at 275° for 1 hour
15. Remove Turkey and uncover, being careful not to burn yourself.
16. Bake at 325° uncovered until the Turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°.
** If the skin of your Turkey starts to brown quicker than the estimated baking time, loosely cover it with foil.
Approximate Baking Times:
10-18 lbs 3-4 hours
18-22 lbs 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours
22-24 lbs 4 - 5 hours
24-30 lbs 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 hours
Bake 1st hour at 275° (All size turkeys)
Bake at 325° for remainder
Check the temperature with a meat thermometer about an hour before the estimated baking time and then check every 15 mins.
Turkey’s really can vary in baking time so just keep your eye on it, not to overcook. Only open the oven to check the temperature of the Turkey, otherwise use the oven light to keep up with it. You don’t want the heat to escape from the oven.
Enjoy!
