Welcome to 79 Minutes: Breach of the Capitol.

On January 6th, tactical failures and crowd psychology intersected to create a situation where one of the most well-guarded buildings in America was overrun by an angry crowd. In preparing this documentary, we have examined an extensive array of source material including countless hours of video, reports, and eyewitness testimony.

Topics covered: Laying out a detailed timeline from when the riot began with the assault on the perimeter to the first breach of the Capitol Building at the Senate Wing Door.

Tactical Analysis: Exploring the failure of the police defense, and answering the question of whether the police “opened the doors” or allowed the breach to happen.

Perspectives: Examining the particular perspectives of different individuals and groups on the scene.

Source Materials: Providing detailed analysis based on an extensive review of source material, including reports, eyewitness interviews, and a synchronization of nearly 200 video clips.

Crowd Control Tactics: Showing the crowd control tactics used by the police, including the extensive use of flashbangs.

About Stephen Horn: Stephen Horn is an independent journalist. He has filmed multiple political protests, worked on a documentary series, and traveled overseas on projects. He was also there on January 6th filming. Stephen entered the field of journalism not as a career, but out of a passion for truth spurred by repeatedly seeing news coverage that did not reflect what he personally witnessed with his own eyes. Rather than simply complain, he decided to “enter the arena” and make an attempt to better inform the public using his existing video and technical skills. Stephen tries to create the type of journalism that he would consume; reporting that includes all available context and eschews a partisan bent. It’s content that provides accurate information: the foundation necessary for people to form sound opinions.
