This Pool Of Swimming Corgis Has Brightened Our Day

They are the most adorable dog breed in the world! Corgis used to be reserved for the Crown of England exclusively, favored by the British Royal Family for more than seventy years.

The royal corgis are known all across the world and are closely associated with the Queen. Because of Her Highness's fondness for the Welsh Corgi, an increased number of corgis were exhibited in the 1954 West Australian Canine Association's Royal Show.

It would seem that the breed that is the Corgi has some sort of magical properties about it; everyone who has ever laid eyes on on the white-and-red colored dog with stubby legs felt the urge to hug and squeeze their smiley faces until their heart’s content. It is a very happy dog.

Now imagine all that happiness and multiply it by 10, because that is now many Pembroke Welsh Corgis have been recorded having a swimming contest in a local pool in Murrieta, California this past summer. Every single one of them can be seen sporting some brightly colored life vest, with the one with the shark fin being our top favorite!

There are two variations of the Welsh Corgi, the Pembroke, like the ones in this clip, and the Cardigan variety, who have been listed in the Kennel Club's first list of Vulnerable UK Native Breeds in 2006. The term "corgi" means either cur dog or dwarf dog (cor = dwarf, gi = lenitive of ci, dog) in the Welsh language, which was not intended as an insult to the dog's size, rather as a purely descriptive term.
