HOW DO I GET THE HOLY SPIRIT? / Pastor Bob's Coffee Break

Dear Pastor Bob: Do you have to have the Holy Spirit to be a real Christian? I attend a church that believes that you need the Holy Spirit to be saved. I have tried many times to receive the Holy Spirit, but it just doesn't happen for me. I believe in Jesus, and invited him to come into my life and forgive me of my sins. I am not sure why he withholds the Holy Spirit from me!
