Are Gun Laws Applied Equally? Charges Dropped Against Politician!

New York Councilwoman Inna Vernikov was charged for conceal carrying a firearm at a protest. The current New York gun control laws prohibit carrying at protests, rallies, or other public gatherings.

The charges were eventually dropped because she was not arrested at the time and was able to voluntarily turn in an inoperable firearm later on.

Is this because she is a politician, even though she is a Republican or is this because New York does not want to actually prosecute with this law, knowing it will eventually be overturned?
