The SBU detained two dealers in Donetsk region who wanted to sell "trophy" Russian weapons to crime

The security service eliminated another channel of illegal sale of weapons and ammunition in the front-line territory of Donetsk region.

The two persons involved wanted to secretly sell the arsenal of "trophy" weapons of the occupiers, which were acquired by the Ukrainian defenders in the brutal battles near Bakhmut.

More than 60 assault rifles and machine guns, as well as Russian-made anti-tank grenade launchers, were seized from the attackers.

They tried to sell the corresponding batch of combat weapons to representatives of the Dnipropetrovsk criminality.

As a result of comprehensive measures, the SBU officers detained both suspects during an attempt to sell 7 Kalashnikov assault rifles, including the new AK-12.

As the investigation established, the detainees turned out to be two contractors from one of the military units of the Defense Forces, who were deployed to Donetsk region.

For the illegal storage of weapons and ammunition, they set up a cache on the territory of a private home.

Currently, both detainees have been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).

The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Comprehensive measures to block the channel of illegal arms sales were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk specialized prosecutor's office in the field of defense of the Eastern region.
