Leg and buttock exercises: Your glutes, hips, and thighs are some of the most vital and powerful muscles in your body. In reality, your buttock, commonly known as the gluteus maximus, is the largest muscle in your body. The gluteus maximus is the most obvious gluteal muscle, but two more muscles are as important: the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus. These three muscles are in charge of many forms of hip movements, such as the outer side of the thigh and hip abduction - or moving the leg away from the body as leg lats. This means you use your glutes every time you stand, stroll, or walk up stairs, or jog.
