We are spiritual beings living a human experience in the the flesh.
Whatever we do, we find ourselves sowing to one of two things, the Spirit, or the Flesh.
There are wages we are earning when we sow to the flesh. The wages add up to death.
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
We reap what we sow in this world, but also spiritually in the next.
While our works will not save us if we deny Christ, they will earn us rewards in heaven, if they come from a place of true service to God because of what Jesus did for us on the Cross.

We are forgiven. We are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, the suffering servant described in Isaiah 53 and our Messiah. He sets us free, which should inspire us to do good works that glorify His name, not our own.

Romans 6:22-23
"But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the fruit you reap leads to holiness, and the outcome is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Isaiah 64:6
"But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all our righteousnesses (works) are like filthy rags;
We all fade as a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind,
Have taken us away.(from God)”

Romans 3: 21-23
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…"
