As British troops prepare to join the UN peacekeeping force in Yugoslavia. Some of the British soldiers were already out there risking their lives in the bloodiest conflict in Europe since the Second World War.
They are Britain’s “Dogs of War”, the mercenaries who have volunteered to fight for the Croatians in their bitter battle with the Serbian federal forces. For the first time these British soldiers-for-hire, some ex-forces and others complete novices, talk in detail about why they have given up their jobs, left their families and travelled across Europe to fight for someone else’s cause.
