USS Lunga Point (CVE-94), a Casablanca-class escort carrier, was crucial in World War II, named after the Guadalcanal naval battle site. Her design prioritized mass production, boasting a length of 512 feet, 65-foot beam, and a 20-foot draft, enabling a top speed of 19 knots. Armed with a 5-inch gun, 16 Bofors 40mm, and 12 Oerlikon 20mm cannons, she played a vital role in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Despite kamikaze attacks, she sustained minimal damage. Post-war, she joined the Pacific Reserve Fleet, later dismantled in Japan in 1960, affirming her significance in the Pacific theater.
