In the tectonic shift of the Global Majority coming together against geopolitics and war, and for economic development, Afghanistan has come to the forefront of the world agenda. In that mountain nation, despite 40 years of occupation and destruction, there are both emergency and long-term measures underway for the good of the people and the Eurasian region. Amazing gains are being made, regardless of the severe anti-development belligerence of sanctions, and the U.S. seizure of Afghanistan central bank assets.

Hear all about it tonight in the Fireside Chat, with EIR Co-Editor Marcia Merry Baker, who just returned from Kabul, after participating--with six other colleagues from the Schiller institute--in an extraordinary conference Nov. 6-8, titled, "Operation Ibn Sina: Toward an 'Economic Miracle' in Afghanistan."

This event, attended by some 600 people, was sponsored by the Ibn Sina Research and Development Center, an international effort whose co-founders and leaders have taken the initiative over the past two years, from Afghan emigre networks, to do everything to advance development in their homeland, where they are working with government officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

In October, 2021, Helga Zepp LaRouche issued a call for an international mobilization, she called "Operation Ibn Sina," to provide emergency health care and humanitarian measures for Afghanistan, while an economic build-up was begun. Ibn Sina, 10th c. physician and philosopher, is a universally esteemed and beloved figure, whose family is from northern Afghanistan, and who signifies hope for the future.

Since 2022, a team of 11 Schiller Institute volunteers has collaborated in every area, from water and energy, to agriculture, industry and culture, to support the Operation Ibn Sina initiative.
