Ken Squier on Northeastern Speedway

I had the honor to interview Ken at his office in the radio station in 2010. Although I wanted to put it online, his release prohibited it, until now.

Squier was the track announcer at Northeastern from the beginning along with other regional tracks. He was completely immersed in the Vermont racing scene, honing his announcing skills to become the legendary talent that he truly was.

The hour I spent with Ken was simply wonderful. He the seasoned TV. Me an aspiring videographer. He was kind, forthcoming and completely professional. My impression is, as the interview went along he became less formal and was just telling stories about Northeastern and other tracks in the region in the 1950s.

Ken payed me the ultimate compliment as I was leaving. We shook hands and he said I did a professional job. Important words for me from a legend in the field.

RIP Kenly Dean Squier
