The Celts had a rich oral tradition, and while much of their literature was not written down, it is known that they valued eloquence and storytelling. The most famous literary remnants of the Celts are the Irish and Welsh epics, such as the Ulster Cycle and the Mabinogion. The Irish had a system of writing called Ogham, an early medieval alphabet used primarily to write the early Irish language.
