Last night we had some music from Joel Grant Faulisi - Joel is a Coast Guard Veteran. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons in March 2020 and he went through some stages of depression following that. Then he found guitars for vets and went through the program. After completing they asked him if he would like to be an instructor and now he is teaching vets to play the guitar. He said if it wasn’t for Guitars for Vets, he doesn’t know where he would be right now. He has tremors in his hands and has trouble holding the pick at times, but what a positive outlook Joel has on everything he is going through. He lost a friend who was a Navy veteran of 12 years to a brain tumor a few years back. He is currently working on a song for his brother called, “The Brother Song” and last night he shared with us the unfinished version of the song. The song speaks volumes to the power of music to span all sorts of gaps in communication to speak directly to the souls of so many individuals.
