L John Phillip Lally ran towards gunfire to save the life of a police officer who was shot in a shootout

The incident happened on Highway 59 in Texas during a gun fight between police & a carjacker.

Lally, who found himself in the middle of the shootout, noticed that an officer was injured and immediately jumped into action, dragging him away from the line of fire to safety.

Lally was able to record the entire incident on his phone

"As soon as I jump out of the car there's gunshots going off. Then I looked to my left and saw that cop get shot," he said.

The incident happened after police tried pulling over a suspect who stole a vehicle. After the suspect crashed, he got out and started shooting at police.

One of the shots hit Officer J. Gibson in the leg.

"That's when I grabbed that cop by his vest and dragged him all the way back to my work truck," Lally said.

The shootout ended with officers killing the 19-year old suspect.

Lally, who has a long criminal history, lives in Houston and is now a business owner and CEO of a T shirt company called Real Deal Wreckers.
