Roscoe police release bodycam of officers rescuing three people after their home exploded

A fire broke out at a two-story, four-unit family home on in Roscoe early Sunday morning.

At 12:20 a.m., the Roscoe Police Department and Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department responded to a fire in the 10100 block of Clearwing Lane.

One Roscoe Police Sergeant and two Roscoe Patrol Officers were first to arrive on the scene, along with Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies.

Smoke and fire were seen coming from a two-story, four-unit family home with one side of the building missing.

Officers were told that one of the second floor apartments was occupied.

Officers forced entry into the upstairs apartment from the ground floor, went up the stairs and opened up an interior door to the main area of the apartment.

When the door opened, officers found one adult who said there were two juveniles in a back bedroom.

In body cam footage, the Roscoe Police Sergeant can be seen making his way to the back bedroom with the adult.

Once there, the Sergeant picked up a child from a crib and the adult picked up the other child and made their way out of the apartment.

The adult, two juveniles, and Roscoe Police officers were treated by Harlem-Roscoe Fire EMS and released.

The cause of the fire is still currently under investigation.
