They say a child is an 18-year commitment but everyone knows it lasts much longer than that – especially for 98-year-old Ada Keating. Ada has been living with her eldest son Tom forever, since he never married. Tom had been living in Moss View care home in Liverpool since 2016 and now she’s decided to move in to help look after him.

The mom and son are inseparable long into both their retirements and love spending time together, especially watching Emmerdale. You can really see the warmth and affection between the two as they discuss their daily routine: “I say goodnight to Tom in his room every night and I’ll go and say good morning to him," the former auxiliary nurse, said.

Tom, who was a painter and decorator, said he was happy to have his mother at the care home. “They’re very good here and I’m happy to see my mom more now that she lives here."

When the Liverpool Echo asked Ada about her and her son's unusual arrangement she responded, 'you never stop being a mom!'

Care home manager Philip Daniels confirms that the pair are never without each other. “It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible," he told the Echo.
