USS Woolsey (DD-77), a Wickes-class destroyer, served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. After joining Convoy HX 52 and a mission to Europe, she conducted various tasks, including escorting President Woodrow Wilson on his return from the Versailles peace conference. In June 1919, she moved to the Pacific Fleet and engaged in operations in the Hawaiian Islands. Following a tragic collision in 1921 near Coiba Island, Panama, with the SS Steel Inventor, Woolsey was cut in half and sank, resulting in casualties. Her survivors were rescued by the sister ship, Aaron Ward.
