Despite concrete evidence, the civil case was heavily influenced by emotions and speculation as to how much the Netflix documentary "Take Care of Maya" played on the case's perception will always be a question.

The case of Alex Murdaugh, someone else subject to a Netflix documentary, had his fate sealed off the back of substandard evidence and a lot of emotional swaying.
