Israel's PM Netanyahu has said the Israel Defense Force is encircling and "operating inside" Gaza City.
The G7 group of nations - including the UK and US - have called for a pause in the fighting in Gaza during a meeting in Tokyo overnight.
Meanwhile, BBC News's Orla Guerin has spoke to Hezbollah's deputy leader Naim Qassem about tensions growing on the border of Israel and Lebanon in the north, and what an escalation of conflict could mean for the wider region as a whole.
