NYC hate crimes against Jews surge by more than 200%

The eruption of conflict in Gaza and Israel in October resulted in a significant uptick in hate-driven incidents targeting Jews, as indicated by the latest crime data from the NYPD.

In October, bias crimes in the city surged by 124% compared to the same month in 2022, according to the data released by the Police Department on Wednesday.

The count of bias incidents in New York City rose to 101, a stark increase from 45 reported in October of the previous year.

Notably, the surge was primarily driven by a substantial rise in anti-Jewish incidents, with 69 cases reported last month in the city compared to 22 in October 2022—a notable 214% increase, as highlighted by officials, the New York Daily News reported.
