The Israeli airstrikes since Oct. 7 have resulted in the killings of thousands of Gaza civilians, with entire families wiped out. Israeli attacks have reduced Palestinian neighborhoods to expanses of rubble, while doctors treat injured civilians with no electricity. However, Hamas’s leaders has said that the carnage is not the regrettable outcome of a big miscalculation. The leaders said that the devastation is the necessary cost of shattering the status quo.
