Ingredients:
• 2 Cups whole milk (warm)
• 1/2 Cup sugar
• 1/2 Cup unsalted butter (melted)
• 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) Active, dry yeast
• 5 Cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 2 tsp salt
• 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
Filling:
• 3/4 Cup Salted Butter (softened)
• 3/4 Cup light brown sugar
• 2 Tbsp cinnamon
Icing:
• 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
• 2 Tbsp Salted Butter (softened)
• 2 Tbsp whole milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and melted butter. Ensure it’s warm (100-110°F). Add yeast, mix slightly, and let it sit for 5 minutes till it froths.
2. Incorporate 4 cups of flour and mix until the dough forms. Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
3. Butter two round cake pans.
4. Uncover the dough. Mix in baking powder, salt, and the remaining ¾ cup flour. Place the dough on a floured surface and knead till it’s not sticky. Add more flour if needed.
5. Shape the dough into a large rectangle, about ½ inch thick, ensuring even corners.
6. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon. Press this mix lightly into the butter.
7. Roll the dough to create a log and seal the seam. Slice into 14 equal sections, each about 1 ½ inch thick.
8. Shape with thread as shown on the video.Place 7 rolls in each cake pan. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes in a warm place.
9. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
For the icing:
10. In a bowl, whip together the cream cheese and butter. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla, then add milk until the icing is smooth. Adjust the milk for desired consistency.
Baking:
11. Uncover the rolls, brush them with melted butter, and bake for 25-30 minutes until they’re golden brown.
12. Once baked, drizzle the icing over the rolls. Serve and savor!
