How should we manage remote teams?

I have received this question at least weekly for the last three years, often daily. We have really over complicated the answer.

The real question should be, “Is the work getting done”. If the answer is yes, then we don’t even have a problem to solve.

If we want to connect better with our teams, let’s lay out a simple process to be successful:

1. Weekly team meeting via video call.
2. Connect and ask how everyone’s weekend was.
3. What was due last week and is it done?
4. What is due this week?
5. Do you need any team support to reach objectives?
6. Any schedule items.

That’s literally it. Repeat weekly. Watch the team start to gel. Add your own sauce.
