Mount Helena, Helena Montana

Lets take a hike up a mountain. One of the larger city parks in the USA.

Mount Helena City Park is a 620-acre park in Helena, Montana. The park includes Mount Helena, which is 5,468 feet above sea level. The park has hiking and mountain biking trails that offer views of the mountain.
The history of Mount Helena is well documented. In 1864, four gold miners discovered gold in Last Chance Gulch. The heavily timbered slopes of Mount Helena provided wood for buildings and other mining activities. Livestock also grazed on the lower slopes.
The community assumed that the mountain remained in public domain because there was a lack of settlement-related developments. The mountain has been used for communal and celebratory events throughout Helena's history.
The 1906 Trail is a well-designed trail that offers the easiest and most direct route to the top of the mountain. It follows the base of the limestone cliffs and passes the Devils Kitchen.
