This is Camp chase (1861-1865) in Columbus Ohio where thousands of Confederate soldiers were imprisoned. 2,260 died at this prison camp but at the end of the war, 90% of the Confederate soldiers were released and returned home. Sad as the Civil War was, it was a great success in keeping the States united and the Union under the leadership of Abraham Lincoln set the Black man free.
