Tacloban City regional capital of Eastern Visayas bore the brunt of Yolanda (Haiyan international name) on November 8, 2013, one of the strongest storm ever recorded, unleashed winds up to 315 km/h and whipped up tsunami like waves (5m high storm surges) that crashed over mostly poor coastal communities.

A decade later Taclobanon's flocked Tacloban City Convention Center - which was used as evacuation center during Yolanda.

President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos attended the ceremony along with foreign diplomats and survivors of the storm.

"Ten years have gone by, and yet the memory of this tragedy remains indelible in our hearts and in our thoughts," the President said.
