Germany’s China Problem

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been accused of being soft on China. Germany has loads of financial ties to China, including Volkswagen having operations in Xinjiang, where Uyghur ethnic slave labor is being used. And German Chancellor Angela Merkel is facing a revolt in her own parliament for her refusal to ban Huawei from building Germany's 5G, despite warnings from her own intelligence services that it's linked to the Chinese state, and for not doing enough about Hong Kong. And an Axios exclusive has revealed that a top level German officials surpassed a 2018 report about China's influence in German society. And this could have a big impact on how the EU, European Union deals with China.
