Johannes Brahms – Intermezzo, Op. 119, No. 1 (Brass Septet + Flute)

27

This Intermezzo was published in 1893, the last set of pieces that he composed for piano. It was given as a birthday present to Clara Schumann (a famous piano virtuoso in the 19th century). Brahms admitted to writing these just for himself, casting them with an introverted and somewhat melancholic tone.

This is an arrangement by Richard Byrnes for Flute, 2 Trumpets, 2 Horns, Trombone, Bass Trombone, & Tuba.

It may be purchased at sheetmusicplus.com and sheetmusicdirect.com

In addition to many works by Brahms, we offer works by Bach, Debussy, Dvorák, Fauré, Glazounov, Glinka, Gottschalk, Granados, Griffes, Lotti, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Ravel, Richard Strauss, Turina, & Vierne.
